Asado

    I woke up today around 9am and went shopping by myself for the first time. I walked to the store a few blocks down and bought apples and mandarin oranges. Purchasing fruit in Spanish wasn't too difficult, but my vocab is limited. (I have a picture of the fruit stand below this post.) Oh, there is a bus stop close by but I'm not brave enough for that adventure yet.. maybe in a week or two. But first, I have to purchase bus tokens.

  We had an asado today (BBQ) and we started setting up the tables around noon. The food was delicious.. meat prepared with salt, potatoes, bread and salad (with oil and vinegar.) We drank CocaCola and enjoyed matte after our meal. Matte is fairly bitter, but I always add a little sugar to sweeten it up. I met a sweet girl named Sarah who is living abroad from New York, and she became my little translator for the evening. I'm slowly getting used to life here, made much easier by everyone being so nice.
