Parque Sarmiento

Today was a blast. Mari and I bought items needed to make a picnic lunch and eat in the park. We wanted to buy ham, cheese, bread, mayo, tomatoes and lettuce. One of the cool things about Argentina, is it's typical (and cheaper) to buy meats and cheese freshly sliced. It was a little odd at first, when Mari said we needed some ham, and the woman behind the counter took a GIGANTIC rectangle brick of ham and sliced it right in front of us. Everything came to 38 pesos but us being the girls we are didn't have enough to cover it.  I had to run the 3 blocks  back to the house and grab some more while Mari waited in the little shop.
We made eight sandwhiches total, since Heiner and Fernando wanted to eat too. Since Heiner had class in under 45 min, we had to change our plans of eating in the park, to eating outside of the Facultad de Lenguas (School of Languages.) August keeps showing off it's status as 'the windiest month of the year' and knocked over our glasses full of juice. We had to cover our eyes while walking past the soccer field, since the top layer of dirst was swirling towards us.. it was nasty :)
After lunch, Mari and I walked to the Park (Parque Sarmiento) and fed the ducks, had a popsicle and took lots of photos. It was warm enough for us to wear short sleeved shirts, which is a nice break from mittens and scarves. Now I'm home, and I'm FILTHY from all of the walking today. In total, we walked about 6 hours.. that's a lot for an American :)
I'm going to shower, and walk down the road from where I live to get some items for dinner. I think I want milenesas tonight (flattened chicken breast that is breaded). It's usually what people eat for lunch here, but I'm going to sneak in a milinesa for dinner.
