| Some of my roommates of Big House! We have a new roommate from Germany, he is on the far right and his name is Heiner. |
Yesterday was such a thrill. A group of us from the residence took a bus (which is a experience all in it's own here in Argentina) and went to take a Folklore class. Here in Argentina they pronounce folklore FOKE-LORE-A. Vale (who is one of my roommates) knows the teacher and every Saturday from 3-5 she gives lessons to whomever wants to come. After hanging on the bus for about an hour, we got off and walked to the building that you see painted with all sorts of color. Behind the building, everyone was gearing up to start learning folklore steps. It was pretty difficult, since most of the work is technical with your feet, but it was fun to be around such great people. The teacher is in the white turtle neck with the headband and dreadlocks. She was the Argentine version of Jaclyn! She had the exact same voice and body movements!
The coin that I'm holding in my hand is a cospel, which is a bus token. They cost 2 pesos each, and we bought one for the trip there, and bought one again for the trip home. You have to go to a kiosko to buy these, and it can be a pain since there's usually a line. You also have to keep your ticket once you board the bus, since a 'meter maid' might come by and check your reciept.
