So I've been a little under the weather with a bad cold and an eye infection. Everyone here has been coughing and sneezing constantly due to the chilly temperatures. Now that I'm feeling better, I'm going to write this and head to bed.
I bought some warmer socks the other day, along with mittens and some slippers to walk around the house in. The floors here are tile, so they are freezing against your feet in the morning. Yesterday was "Dia del Amigos" (Friend's Days) and most people gave little chocolates to their close friends, or greeted each other with the phrase "Feliz Dia Del Amigos!!"
I have a new Spanish teacher, her name is Eva and she is a teacher at the University here in Cordoba. She's amazing... and filling in for Laura who isn't here this week. I'm learning the rules of Spanish grammar (which I've forgotten over the years.)
After class, I walked to the bakery called 'Santa Clause' (don't ask why.. haha) and bought an asortment of pastries. The pastries here are DIVINE and I will take some pictures at the bakery tomorrow. After that, I took a taxi to the Fulfer's house to learn how to make 'pastafrola' a commone Argentine dessert. It's comparible to a pie, but the dough is chewy and thick, and the center is made from a guava paste. We melted the guava paste with some port, and used that as the filling. It took about 30min to cook, and it was scrumptious!
P.S. I have a phone now! My cell phone won't work here in Argentina, so it's been difficult for people here to get ahold of me. I bought a sim card for 10 pesos, and a roomate gave me an old phone from Argentina to use! I can't make long distance calls, but at least I can get ahold of people here if I get lost of something ;)
